The 2009 African Under-17 Championship was a football tournament for Under 17 players. It was held in Algeria in 2009.
The competition consisted of three rounds of two legged matches. Some countries received a bye to the First Round. The winners of the Second Round matches qualified for the Finals in Algeria.

Top two teams from each group qualified for the semi-finals. The 4 semi-finalists qualified for the 2009 U17 World Cup being held in the summer in Nigeria.
